@scottkuru: A growing economy doesn’t automatically mean Australians are becoming better off. Headline GDP can rise while growth per person stalls, productivity goes backwards and households continue getting squeezed by higher prices. That’s why I think we need to look beyond one headline number when judging the health of Australia’s economy. A genuinely strong economy should eventually translate into something Australians can FEEL. Better productivity. Stronger real wages. More business investment. More opportunities. Improving living standards. If the economy is supposedly “robust”, but millions of Australians are looking at their bank accounts wondering where that strength is, then we should be asking harder questions.
