@olatayo.tinuoye: The moment NELFUND MD/CEO Akintunde Sawyerr EMBARRASSED AND FACT-CHECKED Seun Okinbaloye - @seunokin live on TV. Another low point for Seun and Channels TV …. and, more importantly, a troubling example of what happens when a journalist appears insufficiently prepared on the subject he is interrogating. Seun referenced an alleged ₦33 billion that supposedly could not be accounted for by NELFUND. But where is the Auditor-General’s report saying this? The reported ₦33.75 billion finding concerned electronic cash transfers administered by the National Cash Transfer Office (NCTO) for vulnerable households …. NOT NELFUND. That distinction is fundamental. Before putting such a serious allegation to the MD/CEO of NELFUND on national television, surely the minimum requirement is to establish that the allegation actually relates to NELFUND. Thankfully, Mr Sawyerr immediately challenged the claim and refused to allow it to pass into the public consciousness as fact. This is precisely why preparation matters. Journalists must interrogate NELFUND. Ask difficult questions. Examine its figures. Challenge its management. Hold it accountable for every naira entrusted to it. But DO YOUR RESEARCH FIRST. Confusing NELFUND with an entirely different government programme while discussing billions of naira is not rigorous journalism. It risks misleading millions of Nigerians watching at home. A television platform as influential as @channelstv carries enormous responsibility. Political suspicion must never become a substitute for research, and allegations must never be presented without establishing their factual foundation. Seun should have known the difference between NELFUND and NCTO before going live. That is Journalism 101. FACTS FIRST. QUESTIONS SECOND.
if you don't know, seun was only afraid not bcos the facts weren't right or bcos he didn't prepare, imagine how the man is trying to clamp him, Is that how to state or clarify fact's

Does it mean that journalism is no longer about research and fact finding befor coming on air,cos the fact of the matter is about cash transfered to families an not about Nelfund which was clearly stated in the reports. The political journalists just looking for what to nailed an paint this govt bad in everyway, regardless of any good move

Sometimes I wonder if these journalists are getting paid to just say these things. It’s good to criticize the government but when criticism begins to turn bitterness then it becomes bad for everyone.

Most of these people that criticizes government actually don't want a working Nigeria, because if Nigeria is working, most of them will run out of News and relevance.
