schools should back off, phones arent the reason standards go down, just like uniforms policy being ridiculously strict, its ridiculous needing to get permission to remove a blazer in 30 degree weather, a workplace would never, so why do we treat our children worse than we allow ourselves

There’s no reason a teacher would need to physically remove that phone. If child refuses to hand it over then they are sent home and behaviour policy followed. There’s no excuse to search for phones. If it’s believed there is something illegal on it or harmful then it’s a police matter.

my children are under strict instructions from myself that under no circumstances are they to hand over thier phones to anyone including school staff. they have their phones for safety so they can contact me or another family member in an emergency and us them.
