Insanity. There’s not a single reason as to why we should do this. The pain people will feel at retirement with nothing other than a pension will drive people deep into poverty and relying heavily on a Fed govt uninterested in assisting them. Taking $20k out of your super will cost you anywhere between $80K to $$120K down the track. Pure madness.

One nation want you to access your super young so that you pay tax on it. Super gets taxed at 15% as it goes in, then if you take it out before aged 60 you pay another 22% tax, at 60 it can be withdrawn completely tax free. That money is also classed as income so if taking it out pushes you into the next tax bracket, you are going to pay even more tax; if you have a HELP/ HECS loan you will have to pay more off it because of the higher income, and it could mean you pay the medicare levy surcharge as well. Doesn't seem very advantages for everday Aussies.

I took out 20k from my superannuation in 2018 for IVF, my super has recovered sufficiently since then and I have a child to thank for it. This interview is rubbish. as people have mentioned, some people need money now, some might not make it to retirement due to stress around finances. this initiative takes stress off people and centreline.
