in 2018, I was left alone and everyone forgot about my 20th birthday. I was broke from paying my then bfs bills, but I had a coupon for free pancakes at ihop and $3 in change to tip with. I was in line in front of 2 sweet, older black ladies and they overheard me saying just 1, and apologizing in advance I was just using a coupon and had only $3. Aunt Cookie (as she introduced herself) stepped right up and said "no this baby is dining with us, and don't you dare accept a dime from her." I had never felt so loved and seen 💜

The only foster parents I had that were genuinely kind were black moms. They truly love everyone. I miss them and wish them well every day!
