Fisherman soup is for kalabari and the okrika people , they were the fisher men with salt water mostly. these ingredients from these two places, the other sides of rivers state mostly have fresh waters. native cat fish, water crab ( cos there are 2 types of crabs, one lives in land while the other lives in land but very close to the river also) periwinkle, prawns and shrimp are mostly caught in saltwater. Thank you for reminding me im a fisherman 😁. Proud Kalabari 😁😁

FisherMan soup is not owned by one tribe, every tribe that lives by the sea shore has their own variation.. Starting from Ondo down to Akwa Ibom and Cross River state, every tribe in between has their own version. it's a staple food in Cross River state, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta, Ondo!

No be our ijaw people get fisherman soup? Oga fisherman soup we no dey add thickner. Na the fish na be our thicker. E get how wey u go put plenty fish, na the fishes go thicken the soup. Na other thing u dey cook in disguise, no be fisherman soup. And our fathers always recommend Eba and plantain for fisherman soup. Garri is the best for fisherman soup. I don't know where u are from. Using Ofor for fisher man soup is very wrong oga. As a woman that grew up in the sea we cook fisher man soup almost on a daily and we didn’t know what ofor was as at then. So please don’t mention Ofor when it comes to real fisher man soup Abeg. Don’t change our recipe.
