If I had to start over with $0 today, here’s exactly where I’d start: 1. Sell things I already own. Clothes, furniture, household items, tools—anything I don’t need. 2. Look for immediate-service work. Cleaning, organizing, yard work, errands, babysitting, pet sitting, moving help, etc. 3. Identify one skill I can sell immediately. Don’t spend 30 days building a website or taking a course. Find something someone will pay me to do now. 4. Contact people I already know. Tell them specifically what I’m offering and ask for referrals. 5. Go where potential customers already are. Local businesses, neighborhood groups, Facebook Marketplace, community groups, networking events. 6. Take the first reasonable jobs—even if they’re not my forever business. The goal initially is cash flow, not building the perfect career. 7. Track every dollar coming in and going out. When you’re starting from zero, you need to know exactly where you stand. 8. Reinvest the first money strategically. Transportation, basic supplies, insurance/licensing if required, marketing—things that allow me to earn more. 9. Pay attention to what people keep asking me to do. That’s market research. If people repeatedly want the same service, there’s potentially a business there. 10. Don’t wait until I feel confident. Confidence comes from evidence. Get out there and create some. You don’t need to know exactly what you’re going to do for the rest of your life. You need to figure out what you can do for the next $100.
