Men's vasectomy can be reversed, a women's hysterectomy is permanent. The pill can fail, the condoms can fail. Easier for men, even reversible but it's all put on women😔.

SOURCES 🧬 Vasectomy: outpatient procedure, local anaesthetic, over 99% effective, low complication rate (NHS). Tubal ligation requires general anaesthetic and carries higher surgical risk. 🧬 Female sterilisation is roughly ten times more common globally than vasectomy (UN Population Division, Contraceptive Use by Method) 🧬 Currently in trials: YCT-529, a non-hormonal male pill in Phase 1 since 2023, and NES/T, a hormonal gel in Phase 2b. Nothing is close to market. 🧬 On the trial everyone quotes: the 2016 injectable study (Behre et al., Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism) was 96% effective and was halted early by an independent safety review committee, not by the participants. Around 75% of the men said they’d be willing to keep using it. The “a few men got acne and quit” version isn’t accurate, and that’s a whole other piece. 📌 Honest note. The “no market” argument is my read, not a cited finding. Pharmaceutical investment in male contraception has been low for decades and commercial uncertainty is one commonly given reason among several. I’d rather say that’s an argument than dress it up as a fact.

No way I’m trusting anyone else with my body. Plus the guy is still using a condom. Even though it’s going to be 90+ days before I even consider having sexual relations with a male, that still doesn’t guarantee faithfulness. Sorry not sorry.

Marijuana known to lower sperm count but it affects the Y chromosome first and their not taking the chance of having overpopulation of females.
