@heatherhirschmd: One of the biggest problems in menopause care is that many clinicians simply were not trained in it. I had only a handful of lectures on menopause throughout medical school and residency, and almost no real clinical exposure to managing it. So despite seeing women in perimenopause and menopause all the time, I didn’t feel prepared to prescribe hormone therapy. It wasn’t until I sought out additional education that I really understood how much better this care could be. Sometimes the gap isn’t that clinicians don’t care. It’s that the training was never there to begin with.
