@rah_inactive: HTTD: How’s Marie Doing? UPDATE 2 - Tropical Storm Marie: Marie has now officially weakened to a tropical storm, coming after the storm spent over 4 days at hurricane intensity, peaking as a low-end Category 2 hurricane with winds of 100mph (~160kph). Tropical Storm Marie is currently affecting the southern portions of the U.S. state of California with minor to moderate amounts of rainfall that is subject to continue for the next 6 to 12 hours, where the storm is also expected to experience a north-northwestward shift in track by the start of Tuesday tomorrow. As of right now, Marie currently has maximum sustained winds of up to 65mph (~105kph) with an estimated central air pressure of 986mb, moving northwest at an approximate speed of 8mph. Marie is currently about 760 miles (~1,220km) south-southwest from the metropolitan city of Los Angeles, where the NHC is expecting for the storm to continue indirectly affecting the region with minor amounts of rainfall throughout the next 6 to 12 hours, in addition to bringing dangerous rip currents to both Baja and Southern California. Marie is expected to stay as a tropical storm for the next 2 days as it begins to move toward the north-northwest, where it’ll weaken to a tropical depression and turn post-tropical by the first half of Wednesday, then dissipate by Thursday several hundred miles west of the Bay Area. Forecasting models are mostly in line with the NHC’s current projection for Tropical Storm Marie over the next 3 days, with moderate spread being noticed after the 48-hour mark but still aligning with the NHC’s forecast. Rainfall will mostly stay isolated within the L.A. Region, with amounts estimated to be below an inch (~<25mm). Meanwhile, the storm will also continue to deteriorate oceanic conditions, which will mostly affect coastal areas for a couple days. Future updates coming soon! #fyp #marie #tropicalstormmarie #tropicalstorm #update
