Growing up, I thought who I’d become was defined by a fixed destination—a specific title, a perfect plan, or having every answer mapped out. But the biggest difference today is realizing that growth isn't about reaching a rigid destination; it’s about having the courage to adapt. Life rarely follows our exact script. I’ve learned that the most meaningful parts of who I am today—my resilience, my empathy, and my purpose—didn't come from following a flawless blueprint, but from embracing unexpected turns and turning challenges into opportunities to serve. If my younger self could see me now, she would see that who I’ve become isn't defined by a perfect path, but by the strength, heart, and authenticity I bring to every step along the way.

The biggest difference is that I’m not exactly the person I thought I would become. Before, I had a lot of plans and expectations for myself, but as I grew older, I realized that life doesn’t always go the way we imagine. I’ve experienced failures, changes, and challenges that helped me become more mature and independent.I may not be where I thought I would be, but I’m still learning and working toward the person I want to become.

Hace doce años, cuando crecía en una familia que muchas veces era señalada por tener un padre con problemas de alcoholismo, pensaba que probablemente toda la vida seríamos personas destinadas a sufrir. Pensaba que no encontraría mi camino y que terminaría siendo una persona perdida. Pero creo que la gran diferencia entre quien pensaba que sería y quien soy ahora está precisamente en que no dejé que mi presente de hace doce años dictaminara mi futuro. Tomé todos esos comentarios, esos señalamientos y esas veces en las que las personas a nuestro alrededor nos hicieron sentir inferiores o menos importantes, y decidí convertirlos en un impulso. En lugar de dejar que esa imagen que otros habían construido de mí se convirtiera en mi identidad, decidí construir la mía propia. Seguí aprendiendo, creciendo y buscando mi propio camino. Y hoy, después de todo lo que ha pasado, puedo decir algo que el niño de hace doce años probablemente nunca hubiera imaginado: Estoy orgulloso de la persona en la que me convertí. Y quizá esa sea la mayor diferencia: antes pensaba que mi historia ya estaba escrita; hoy sé que yo puedo escribirla.

Hola Puerto Rico! Al crecer, pensaba que la persona en la que me convertiría estaba definida por un destino fijo: un título específico, un plan perfecto o tener todas las respuestas trazadas de antemano. Pero la gran diferencia hoy es darme cuenta de que crecer no se trata de llegar a un destino rígido, sino de tener el valor de adaptarse. La vida rara vez sigue exactamente el guion que imaginamos. He aprendido que las partes más significativas de quien soy hoy mi resiliencia, mi empatía y mi propósito no surgieron de seguir un plan perfecto, sino de aceptar los giros inesperados y transformar los desafíos en oportunidades para servir. Si mi yo más joven pudiera verme ahora, comprendería que la persona en la que me he convertido no está definida por un camino perfecto, sino por la fortaleza, el corazón y la autenticidad que aporto a cada paso del camino. If you asked little me what I'd grow up to be, she'd say famous. Adoctor. A leader whose name people knew. She had big dreams, and honestly... some days I still carry the quiet ache of wondering what happened to those dreams.But today, I stand here as a science teacher and a university student coordinator someone many people don't know, and for a long time, I let that make me feel small. Then I realized something: every single day, I watch a student's eyes light up when they finally understand a concept they thought they never would. I guide young people finding their way at university, the way I once needed guiding. I may not be famous. But I am necessary to them. So to that little girl who wanted the world to know her name. I hope she knows now that changing one life quietly is just as powerful as changing a thousand loudly. I didn't become who I thought I would. I became who I was needed to be.

When you believe in yourself and in the power of your dreams; is not neccesary that has to be a difference, because we are now the person who decided to be: with loyalty to your worths, essence and the determination of figth for every dream and goal. Buenas noches, Puerto Rico es un honor estar aquí. “Creo que la mayor diferencia entre quien soy hoy y la persona que imaginaba ser es que antes pensaba que para ser fuerte tenía que tener todas las respuestas. Hoy sé que la verdadera fortaleza está en tener el valor de seguir adelante aun cuando no las tienes. La vida me ha enseñado que los sueños pueden cambiar de forma, que los obstáculos no siempre son derrotas y que cada caída puede convertirse en una oportunidad para levantarnos con más propósito. Hoy no soy exactamente la mujer que imaginé ser… soy una mujer más consciente, más resiliente y, sobre todo, más auténtica. Y si algo quiero demostrar desde esta plataforma, es que no necesitamos convertirnos en alguien más para alcanzar nuestros sueños; necesitamos atrevernos a ser nuestra mejor versión. The biggest difference is that I became a person I never knew I needed to become. When I was younger, I thought my future would be defined by the things I achieved, the titles I earned, and the dreams I accomplished. But life taught me that our greatest purpose isn’t always found in what we achieve, but in who we become along the way. Today, I am stronger because of my struggles, more compassionate because of my experiences, and more grateful because of the people who have shaped me. I may not have become the person my younger self imagined, but I became someone he would be proud to meet.
