@taylorawelch: Pulled from "The Deep End w/Taylor Welch" episode title: Revealing Lilith (origins of abortion, ancient goddesses, & the final battle) w/Becca Greenwood
1. Ancient Roman Priests (The Galli) in Germania During the Roman Empire, the cult of the Phrygian goddess Cybele (Magna Mater) and her consort Attis spread widely across various Roman provinces, including parts of modern-day Germany (the regions known then as Germania Superior and Germania Inferior).
The Ritual: The priests of this cult, known as the Galli, famously practiced ritual self-castration.
The Context: During an annual ecstatic festival called the Dies Sanguinis (Day of Blood), initiates would work themselves into a religious frenzy and castrate themselves using sharp stones or ceramic shards to mimic the mythical self-mutilation of Attis.
Vatican Castrati: In the 16th to 19th centuries, young boys in Italy (not Germany) were castrated to preserve their high singing voices for Catholic church choirs (the castrati), though this was done to children by others and was not a form of self-castration by priests.

This dude tries to tie everything a specific ancient demon. Kinda weird. Maybe it is or isn’t but point is it’s demonic. Don’t need to make automatic connections to all this stuff tho
