Jan hated photographs. JingJing had discovered that three weeks into their relationship. They had gone for dinner at a tiny restaurant Jan loved, the kind with plastic chairs outside and food good enough that nobody cared. JingJing had been halfway through her meal when she'd noticed Jan sitting opposite her with her chin resting on one hand. The lights strung above them made everything look warm and Jan looked beautiful so JingJing reached for her phone. Jan immediately frowned. “No.” JingJing smiled. “You don't even know what I'm doing.” “You're getting your phone.” “I could be checking a message.” “You're smiling.” “So?” “That's your camera smile.” JingJing laughed and opened the camera. “Just one.” “Put that thing away.” “Smile.” “No.” JingJing took it anyway. Jan groaned. “I look awful.” “You look gorgeous.” “I'm eating.” “Still gorgeous.” Jan tried to grab the phone across the table but JingJing pulled it away, laughing. “Delete it.” “Never.” “Jing, please.” “Absolutely not.” Jan sat back with an irritated huff. JingJing looked at the photograph. Jan wasn't looking at the camera, she'd caught her halfway through rolling her eyes, but there was a smile pulling at her mouth. JingJing loved it. It became the first of hundreds. . JingJing never stopped taking them and Jan never stopped taking them. According to Jan, there was no reason anybody needed photographs of breakfast. Or hotel rooms. Or beaches. Or sunsets. Even Jan wasn’t safe asleep on a sun lounger. “Delete that.” She gasped at the latest picture. “No.” “My mouth is open.” “It's cute.” Jing says smiling down at the phone. “I look dead.” JingJing laughed. “You're so dramatic.” Jan held out her hand. “Phone.” “No.” “JingJing.” “Jan.” “Give it.” JingJing tucked the phone behind her back and Jan lunged. They nearly fell off the lounger and JingJing screamed with laughter as Jan climbed halfway on top of her, trying to reach behind her. “Delete it!” “Never!” “Why do you need a picture of me sleeping?” “Because I love you.” Jan stopped. It was still early enough in their relationship that those words could silence both of them. JingJing's smile softened as Jan stared at her. Then she leaned down and kissed her. “You could just look at me.” Jan murmured against her lips. “I do.” “Then stop taking my picture.” “No.” Jan sighed. “Had to try.” . Eventually there were photographs everywhere. JingJing printed her favourites. She put them in frames. On the fridge. Inside albums. There were strips from photo booths tucked into drawers and Polaroids balanced against mirrors. And Jan complained about every single one. “This one's horrible.” “It's one of my favourites.” JingJing frowned looking at the polaroid on JingJings vanity. “I'm literally sneezing.” “Adorable.” “What's wrong with you?” JingJing kissed her cheek. “You.” Jan just rolled her eyes. And although Jan hated them she never actually threw any away. Jan kept every one JingJing gave her. There was one in her wallet. One tucked into the visor of her car. One beside her desk at work. JingJing once found a photograph of herself asleep saved as Jan's phone background. She'd stared at it. “Excuse me.” Jan glanced over. “What?” “You hate photographs.” “I don’t hate photographs, I just hate photos of me.” “You're a hypocrite.” Jan took her phone back. “Correct.” CONTINUATION IN COMMENTS ⬇️ #JanJingJing #janhae #jingjingyu #ThaiGL #wlw
