Let me say this as a researcher working with kids. It’s because they edtech is working on products where kids will read to AI and AI will grade them. I literally did a study on this at my job and left right after because I couldn’t get with it.

I think it’s important for kids to learn the fundamentals before introducing AI.

Ai should not be in schools. There are foundation skills that need to be built before using ai.

Banning AI is the easy solution. The smarter solution is AI-assisted tutoring: teach kids how to use AI without letting it do the thinking for them. But that requires money, teacher training, and vendors that build AI tutors instead of glorified answer machines. Singapore and Estonia are testing the future. NYC is banning the tool.

Great news. AI is proven to reduce creativity. It’s not meant to facilitate developing minds.

Interesting. I think the old school model is the problem not necessarily the use of Generative AI. I’m also interested in how the limiting the use of something that will be widely used is counterproductive

AI shouldn’t be in schools. These kids need to learn how to read and write. They need to learn critical thinking skills and much more without having to rely on technology
