It’s actually to saddening how the uk does not take iron deficiency soo serious. It’s soo dangerous when it is low, it’s literally what carries oxygen around your body.

as a ‘crunchy’ person i’m surprised you’ve taken this route. you’re clearly not consuming enough iron. oral iron supplements are perfectly good at upping your iron levels, without having it IV, risking serious side effects. even severe iron deficiency anaemia patients we wouldn’t transfuse iron. just blood if it was a true anaemia.

mine was 7, after a year on tablets it's up to 16. no one will investigate further. i'm just 'a menstruating women's still have all the symptoms of hair loss, fatigue, bruising, coldness etc. 👏

my iron level was 6 - a gynae consultant told me he wouldn't let me have an infusion despite me not being able to take oral iron because he doesn't believe in infusions - I had to BATTLE feeling awful for MONTHS I did get one in the end but I am always dismissed over this its a nightmare!!!

You’ll start to feel better in a few weeks but it’s not instant. Takes about 8-12 weeks to feel the full benefits

My ferritin was 8 i was under consultant lead thankfully i managed to get an infusion but it took months & i felt awful i looked terrible i was so pain & frail looking within about a week i felt like a new woman! 😃 you’ll definitely see benefits from getting one done
