I like your idea a lot and you build your argument really well 🙌🏻 However I think we should be critical of reality TV due to its tendency to exploit its participants who are often young, hungry for fame and/or lower income. The production puts them in these highly manipulated, dramatic situations (while manipulating OUR feelings as well) but then does nothing to protect them from possible backlash or negative consequences of fame. Historically speaking, at least. There’s a really good substack called ”The anti-reality TV essay every woman should read” if you wanna explore this perspective further! I’ve nothing against the genre really but think it is not entirely harmless…
