the king has power in Australia to fire the government if they are not doimg what he needs them to do. It has happened once, the Queen at the time sacked the Prime Minister because the Auatralians thought they could take this place for themselves

the best way to think about it is that the UK, Canada, Australia and a bunch of other countries all have their own king. it just so happens that our kings all happen to be the same person. He doesn't live here though so he appoints someone to sign bills and whatnot (in reality it's the Prime minister's decision as to who gets appointed.)

Technically the crown does have power in Australia, the governor general holds limited constitutional power and is appointed by the prime minister of Australia but is the crown’s representative. They can fire the government essentially and this has happened when they couldn’t pass a budget (there’s some bigger controversy on this)
