@notyaana: My lovely @Devyani actually notified me of both of these things, but once again terrifying what these drivers are allowed to do after being smacked in the head by the weight of 3 adult elephants #formula1 #monzagp #landonorris #charlesleclerc #cl16
I need to see their concussion protocol and HOW Charles could drive home….

charles would not risk his wife and child. he said his vision got better fast and that despite the body pain he was feeling ok.

You should look at MotoGP riders, they are are built like tanks. Rossi broke his leg, two races later he’s back, jorge lorenzo broke his collarbone, but he still took part in race and finished 5th. This doesn’t surprise me, Charles being back for Madrid.

He admitted symptoms so it’s up to the FIA to clear him. The team has no say.

on the heat factor,, if a GP is deemed a heat hazard, I think it can be adjusted to a later time when temperatures are lower,,

I experienced a concussion that impacted my vision momentarily and decided to drive home from our game a few days later. I couldn’t remember where my house was. When I saw a doctor, I was scolded for lying during concussion testing and driving, citing serious brain injuries and damage, then benched for 3 weeks. He needs to sit out for Madrid.

If I was Ferrari i would only let him race if he’s cleared

Personally, i agree they need better concussion protocols. You can see him hit his head on the halo as he crashes, I’ve been concussed with a smaller hit, he shouldn’t be driving. Track temps are very much an “it’s not that bad” when it is that bad

And also how long it took the medical car to get to Charles?? It should’ve been deployed immediately like what took yall so long

Totally agree! The crash was horrible, and I hope for his own safety he takes a rest

F1 drivers do not suffer concussions. they have special buffers around their brain which prevents their brain from sloshing around like a normal human. (this is all sarcasm. I wish big shunts would disqualify drivers for a period of time).

First I’m glad Charles is ok, but I think he needs further evaluation. I think I read that he was. But also , I don’t like that the drivers are to go to the media pen immediately after the race. Like let them breathe for a minute and let them sit down or something. Racing is demanding. These are people.

After letting Stroll race without a full recovery and Lewis starting the 2025 season with a neck injury, nothing is surprising anymore unfortunately

That was INCREDIBLY irresponsible of all of them. ESPECIALLY Charles.

Bro honestly Alex could have driven them back! As his pregnant wife I could not have let my husband whom just had an accident and reported vision problems drive us home. Not just for him but for mine and my babies sake. Like no I’m not gonna let you drive and put us 3 at risk. I’ll drive us idc idc

Also its very common for athletes to hide injuries, especially in a sport like f1.

It’s so crazy he just drove out of the track, like no. They also have 11 races in 14 weeks, drivers are going to tired as it is without the heat of that race or Charles after that crash, Iam so happy Isack is sitting out and not pushing his wrist

I also wonder if teams weren’t as prepared/weren’t taking the precautions that they could be taking because Monza is not a traditional “hot” track and they weren’t anticipating drivers to struggle. Temperatures are consistently higher at tracks like Qatar and Singapore, but teams take precautions to mitigate the effects the heat will take on the drivers, very few of which I saw this weekend.

I don’t see F1 ever proactively taking action to ensure the safety of the drivers (see how they’re dealing with the number of races this half of the season), and until someone has a very big health scare, nothing will be done 😮💨 as for yesterday, you can bet your ass I would have waved my diploma in Charles’ face and yelling at him to let someone else drive them home 👹

I have a really long rant about f1 medical protocols when it comes to crashes and that the solution is right in front of them
