I keep seeing some software developers discouraging “vibe coders saying you have to write everything manually and that using AI means you’re not a real software engineer. That’s honestly bullshit. 😂 Software engineering has never been about how many lines of code you personally typed—it’s about understanding the problem, designing the solution, reviewing the output, debugging, testing, and knowing what you’re building. AI is a tool, just like Stack Overflow, documentation, frameworks, IDEs, and every other tool developers already use. If you can use AI effectively and still understand, maintain, and take responsibility for the code, you’re engineering. The tool you use doesn’t invalidate the skill.

Vibe-coded apps zinaweza kuwa easy target kama security haija-reviewiwa. Test auth, validate inputs, protect secrets, update dependencies, run security scans na do proper code review before deployment. AI can build it, but security still needs a human eye.

I don’t think we’re cooked. I think the real shift is that we need to move beyond simply being coders and become better software engineers people who understand architecture, problem-solving, system design, and quality. AI tools should amplify our capabilities, not replace them. The engineers who know how to use these tools effectively will be able to build more robust, scalable, and higher-quality software faster.

bro I did mass communication. 😂. the company I work for had no IT personal. So I had a bit of background in webflow and figma. They wanted a website and was asked to make one. Claude made it to my liking. I am telling you. if Clients know how to build a web using prompts. web developers are screwed.
