@exclusivemafia: La Mayiza, also known as Los Mayos, is one of the most powerful factions operating under the fractured Sinaloa Cartel structure. The organization is closely associated with the family and longtime criminal network of Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada García. Following El Mayo’s arrest in the United States in July 2024, leadership of the faction has increasingly been attributed to his son, Ismael Zambada Sicairos, better known as “El Mayito Flaco.” Rather than representing an entirely separate cartel, La Mayiza is generally described as the Zambada-aligned wing of the Sinaloa Cartel, supported by veteran operators, regional cells and alliances developed over decades. Reports indicate the faction continues to maintain significant influence in Sinaloa, particularly around Culiacán, while also preserving networks extending into other areas of northwestern and central Mexico. La Mayiza became even more prominent after the Sinaloa Cartel erupted into an internal war between Zambada loyalists and Los Chapitos, the faction associated with the sons of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán. The conflict intensified after El Mayo’s arrest, with La Mayiza accusing its rivals of playing a role in the circumstances that led to his capture. Since then, both sides have fought for territory, trafficking corridors and influence inside areas that were once governed through a complicated balance between the Guzmán and Zambada organizations. By mid-2026, Mexican reporting continued to identify El Mayito Flaco as the leader of La Mayiza and described his organization as retaining important positions around Culiacán despite sustained government pressure and competition from Los Chapitos and other criminal groups.
