I have gotten criticism many times for the fact that I will sometimes talk negatively about other therapists’ approaches on my platforms. But I think it is way more appropriate to critique other professionals in the field than to critique your freaking client! A therapist should never, ever be expressing negative feelings about clients online. It is so inappropriate, and it shows a complete disregard for the impact that has on people who see it and the way it damages what is supposed to be the safety of therapy. And, most importantly, the issue is therapists not using those feelings as a cue to reflect in a deep and meaningful way, and instead just leaning into their feelings of judgment, irritation, and annoyance. It is so concerning in so many ways.
