How do you get work as a freelancer? I feel like I do really, really great front end work. It’s not what I wanted to be doing, but I’m really pretty good at it. I was able to make an entire app in half a semester by myself. I really want to get out there to get more experience, but I’m really tired of this trade off of oh you can have experience but you can’t have pay. I’d like both. My skills are viable. Where do I go for work? How do I find it?

I’ve been freelancing for two years and when it works, it works great. When it doesn’t, you feel like you have to fight every second just to survive.

That’s why I give my designers a “lower” salary + a percentage of any design project they work on. The more you handle work the more your income is. I find it to be the most productive for designers to be motivated and more creative.

Freelancing is a double edged sword. It takes a very particular kind of person to make it work. For everyone else you just struggle for eternity and don't make enough to buy good insurance.

safer 😂 Unless all my clients somehow fire me simultaneously, I'll always have a paycheck. My laid off friends? nope.

Freelance is complex with pros and cons. Your quality of life is highly dependent on the industry you're working in and the rate of work you have coming in and out

what's about in the first years if something expensive broke like your car. I think in the first years there is no possibility of getting a credit or do you? isn't it only possible after 3 years? or if you running out of money because you don't have regularly enough jobs at the beginning you get a problem or what do you think?
