I’m so tired of western arrogance. Some Swiss lady in comments kept both countries for not having sensors. When Nepal has 3500 glaciers compared to Switzerland has 1000 glaciers. Nepal is so much more remote than fancy Switzerland. Westerners only want brag and not have any empathy to any being.

The remoteness, particularly on the Chinese side, is hard to fathom unless you have seen how sparsely populated Tibet is, particularly in the west and closer to the Himalayas.

the US just had a very similar incident a couple of years ago, i was passing through one of the areas affected when the first warnings went out, I passed back through a different, less affected area the next day and the destruction was heart breaking. my heart goes out to the people of Nepal and China that were affected by this disaster and ive seen first hand how even though they can havive warnings its not always as effective as planned. blame cannot be placed on anyone for it, often times there simply isnt time to react and sometimes when warnings do come early enough it causes issues with traffic routing, again something that cannot really be planned for in advance
