@therealdrpsychmom: You’ve picked a guardian for your kids. But what about the dog who sleeps in your bed and has stronger opinions than anyone else in the house? A new Harris poll found that among pet owners with a will or trust, 40% have included provisions for their pets. Among those who haven’t, 40% said they simply hadn’t thought about it. Which is pretty remarkable considering 95% of pet owners say their pet is a member of the family and 69% would cut spending on themselves before cutting spending on their pets. Apparently we’ll skip takeout before we skimp on the dog’s treats, but some of us still haven’t written down who gets the dog if we die. Maybe Fido needs to be added to the estate-planning meeting. https://www.aicpa-cima.com/news/article/pets-are-family-and-budgets-show-it-new-aicpa-survey-finds-owners-prioritize-pet-care-and-long-term-planning
