@techniahqrobot: Humanoid robot kickboxing is getting surprisingly physical. This clip shows a humanoid robot training against a human opponent, throwing repeated kicks while trying to stay balanced through fast changes in direction and body contact. The interesting part is the recovery. A kick forces the robot to shift its center of mass quickly, stabilize on one leg, place the foot accurately, then recover its posture before the next movement. That requires coordination across the hips, knees, ankles and upper body in real time. You can also see the human moving unpredictably around it. That makes the sequence much harder than repeating a fixed motion with no interaction. Tests like this are useful for humanoid robotics because the same control problems appear outside combat. A robot working around people still needs strong balance, fast recovery, reliable locomotion and the ability to react when the environment changes unexpectedly. Humanoid robots are becoming a serious testbed for Physical AI and Embodied AI, where perception and movement have to work together on a physical machine.
