i met my husbands grandmother only a few times before she died, but every time i was at her house i gushed over her thimble collection. when she died the whole family wanted it, but she left a note saying they were for ME😭 I couldn’t believe it. I will cherish the collection forever and hopefully my daughter will love it and want to keep it aswell.

My granddaddy gave me a $500 dollar bill when I was 18. I spent it in my 20’s. I’m 50 and still regret it. It haunts me.

Just because he passed doesn't make him an idiot. It happens to everybody.

My grandfather gave me his very iconic pinky ring when I was in high school. Between moving constantly in college, I lost it somewhere. I felt so guilty I never said anything about it . About 10 years later I told my mom I felt really guilty about losing it…she gave me the weirdest look and said “I have it. You gave it to me because you afraid you would lose it”

when i was a dum teen, i littered. one day, while driving down the road at night, i threw my mcdonald’s cup out of the window. along with my cup went the cupholder insert still attached, holding my great grandmothers opal diamond rings. i don’t litter anymore and it makes me want to die every time i think about it

I cannot relate to these comments 💀 I was a sentimental hoarder of a child- to this day I STILL have books I’ve never read, just because my granny gave them to me

That is my worry with my kids and my coins. My coin collection is worth over $300k. My kids are 1 and 4. I hope they don't vending machine it when I pass..

My ex gave me a Rolex watch for my 21st bday. Years later my ex pawned it for $3000 and it was worth at least 18k. It’s had a diamond bezel. The police didn’t do anything when I tried to report him for stealing it; I think about that watch at least once a day

My parents let me believe that I lost my grandmothers heart shaped diamond ring at 12 yrs old. They pawned it, they were drug addicts.

Lowkey tho why are all these adults giving children and teenagers rare, expensive, or sentimental items when our brains aren’t even fully developed 😭

My grandmother gave me an absolutely gorgeous emerald and diamond vintage ring before she passed… it went missing in my 30s and i tore my house apart trying to find it. I swear to this day (13 years later) that my ex sold it and lied about never seeing it bc it never turned up

My grandpa gave me his collection of antique cameras when I was 10. I treasured the gifts, not quite sure what to do with it and kept them on a shelf. Years later, I let my parents convince me to throw them out with the rest of the hard waste when we moved houses. I still randomly think about it to this day.

Those stamps would have been worth an absolute fortune and could have set you and your baby up for life. I hope whatever you found more interesting was worth it 🙌

Almost died in a wreck at 14 and won $50K+ in court against their insurance and got access when I turned 18 … blew every bit of it within 2 years 💔 I will always live with so many regrets over it

If it makes you feel any better, my OCD grandpa collected <1964 silver quarters literally since 1964. Had three coffee cans FULL. I’m pretty sure my idiot cousin put them in a Coinstar

When I graduated highschool, my grandpa had my grandma's engagement ring melted down and made into a necklace as a graduation gift for me. three huge diamonds on a gold chain. it was beautiful. I pawned it when I was a heroin addict when I was like 21. the employee at the pawn shop even tried to convince me not to do it. I'll literally never forgive myself for that
