Nederlands is ook een hele moeilijke taal. Vooral omdat we natuurlijk ook veel dialecten hebben. Dus stel jullie gaan een keer naar Limburg. Zou ze het niet begrijpen.

We are 2 English parents with Dutch speaking kids and the youngest in particular has such a strong Amsterdam accent. It is hilarious. Apparently when he speaks English he sounds like a 90s MTV VJ 🤣

I’m Aussie and my husband is Dutch. My daughter (almost 12) grew up with him only speaking Dutch to her and me only speaking English (we would speak English to each other though). She favours speaking English at home now, even when talking to my husband 😁 however, her accent is a mix of American-Australian English 😂

It will work out just fine 😂 My partner is Dutch, I am English. I speak English to our boys and my man Dutch at home , they speak English to each other and my man speaks English to me. I speak Dutch mostly outside of the house 😁

I’m also British living in Amsterdam with my Dutch husband. I’ve been here 10 years and still find speaking Dutch difficult but understand a lot of what’s going on. We have a 4 year old and I’m proud to say he has a British accent like me 🥰 he now says to people who speak to me in Dutch ‘mijn mama spreekt Engels’ 🥹😇 so I don’t even have to make an excuse any more, and he translates for me (even though I mostly understand what’s going on). The bilingual from birth babes are so fascinating!
