How many of you were also told to go outside and try not to get killed, or was it just my brothers and I?

My son found the monsters in Stranger Things more probable than that his grandmother would have allowed us to ride off on our bikes all day with no helmets and no idea where we were and no interest to know and not look for us at all and not notice at all for hours. He was like “Max’s brother going to all those houses and nobody knows where they are and they’re at a junkyard and no one knows?! That was a real thing?!” Baby we had PSA posters at school about not hiding in old refrigerators when you play hide and seek in junkyards because they don’t open from the inside and you’ll die before anyone notices! I showed him the “it’s 10 pm” commercials and I thought he might faint! Lol

I broke my arm on one of those ramps the summer before 2nd grade in 1982. Mom and dad didn't take me to the hospital for hours. I was told to just go lay down and see how it feels later 🤣

First time my parents left us alone the rule was be in bed, asleep before we get home, and make sure baby's in a clean diaper. Older brother was 11, I was 9, next brother was 8, baby sister was 2. Fights broke out, WWE type. 😂 Younger brother ran away from home into the woods. We waved goodbye! Older brother got scared and retrieved him. "DON'T TELL MOM AND DAD". 😂 We were all asleep before mom and dad got home.

My parents were built different. No Google, no GPS, no therapy, no soft parenting just “GET OUTSIDE, “I’LL GIVE YOU SOMETHING TO CRY ABOUT” and a look that could stop a moving vehicle. 😂We didn’t have childhood trauma… we had character development. 😭😂 Gen X parents could discipline you from three rooms away using nothing but your full government name and a single eyebrow raise. Honestly, I wish I was Gen X. Y’all got the premium childhood package we got the terms and conditions our parents forgot to read. 😂😂
