Why does “getting off of it” have to be the end goal? I lost 100 lbs. I’ve maintained it, regained some of it, lost it again, and learned A LOT about my body along the way. I have PCOS and insulin resistance. Losing weight didn’t suddenly make those things disappear, and after experiencing what happened when I abruptly lost access to my medication, my perspective changed. If my GLP-1 continues to be medically appropriate for me, helps me maintain my weight and health, and the benefits continue to outweigh the risks, I don’t personally see coming off of it as the goal. And I think we need to stop treating staying on medication like someone somehow “failed” their weight loss journey.
