A catwalk is NOT one-size-fits-all. We create a walk based on the individual candidate…her body features, physical attributes, proportions, strengths, personality, and overall presence. Other queens didn’t become standards because they copied someone else. They created walks that were uniquely theirs, and they raised the bar so high that people are now trying to copy them. We should ADMIRE them. We should STUDY what made them successful. But we should never simply COPY or COMPARE. Every girl has a different body, different proportions, different center of balance, different stride length, different flexibility, different rhythm, and different way of carrying herself. There are so many underlying factors that determine why a queen walks the way she does. What works beautifully for one candidate may not work for another. Our job as coaches is not to turn every girl into the same walker. Our job is to discover what makes HER walk powerful, elegant, natural, and memorable..and then refine it until it becomes her signature.
