@theargentgroup: Humanoid-style robots are moving into real businesses in China. More than 10 pharmacies in Beijing are now using Galbot’s G1 robots. At a pharmacy in Beijing, the G1 can receive orders, find medicines on shelves, pick them up, check products, sort and package orders, restock shelves and help check inventory. The pharmacy is designed to provide automated service 24 hours a day. However, this does not mean one robot works nonstop for 24 hours. Galbot says the G1 can operate for about 8 hours on one charge, so continuous service requires charging and other arrangements. The G1 has two robotic arms and a human-like upper body, but it does not walk like a person. It moves around on a four-wheel mobile base. According to Galbot, the robot is up to 1.73 meters tall and weighs about 92.5 kilograms. Each arm can carry up to 5 kilograms. The robot uses cameras, depth sensors, LiDAR and force sensors to see its surroundings and handle different products. Its onboard computer uses NVIDIA’s AGX Orin platform with up to 275 TOPS of computing power. Galbot is also deploying its robots in other real-world settings, including retail stores, warehouses and manufacturing. The robots are not replacing pharmacists. They mainly handle repetitive physical tasks, while human pharmacists continue to perform professional duties such as prescription reviews and medication advice.
