@dr.tombolan: Your glucose is not always the whole story. A lot can be going on metabolically long before blood sugar reaches the diabetic range. One clue I like to look at in routine blood work is the triglyceride-to-HDL ratio. If you have recent blood tests, take your triglycerides and divide them by your HDL. That ratio can be one useful clue about metabolic health. In general, lower is better. A higher ratio can suggest your metabolic health deserves a closer look, especially if it shows up alongside belly fat, elevated blood sugar, high blood pressure, or high triglycerides. It is not a diagnosis by itself. But it can be an early clue that something is off. And if you want a better look at what your insulin is doing, ask your doctor whether a fasting insulin test makes sense for you. The good news: if this is part of the picture, you are not stuck there. Nutrition, movement, sleep, meal timing, and other sustainable habits can improve metabolic health and insulin sensitivity. Comment INSULIN and I’ll show you the practical steps I use. Educational only. Not personal medical advice. #BloodSugar #MetabolicHealth #BloodTests #InsulinResistance #HealthyHabits
