As a 20-something year old employee in the early 1990s, I was required to wear a dress or skirt (no pants) to work every day…I never even questioned it. And I haven’t worn a dress since!

my mother bought a house by herself in 1971, with 2 young kids. Even the realtor told her "i didn't think they'd give you that loan, they never give loans to divorced women" it wasn't in a great area, but the schools were decent

I’m 70, grew up seeing the Women’s Movement in real time in my teens. It’s a whole different world now, thanks for the Gloria and many other women during these times who gave us strength and hope to grow! Thanks for bringing up this history. Our young women today have no idea. Appreciate you!

Saw Gloria Steinem in 2022 at the Cherokee Nation during the Wilma Mankiller tribute. I felt SO honored as I knew I would never see her again. A force to be reckoned with she was the real deal. Saddens my soul that she passed.

If you are a woman who remembers these lack of rid in your daily life, then we are obligated to share this information with the teenagers in 20 something year-old women who don’t know how recent these events occurred. They think we could never go back, but we know.

I was fired in 2002 while pregnant with my 1st child by my 70 year old boss at a dental office, because he said I would need too much time off for appts. Sued, didn’t know that law existed until the dr I worked for told me it was discrimination..

My mom subscribed to Ms for my entire childhood. I remember the column “a thump on the head” which called out sexism. There was so much blatant sexism that they had a never ending well to draw from for the column. All the work that was done to somewhat balance the power, and now we have people in charge who are working to undo it. We need another Gloria Steinem.

Her death got so little coverage I didn't even know about it until the next day. I just happened to see a TT from People Magazine about it. Thank you for this video. May we never forget who walked so we could run. RIP Gloria 💜

It’s especially infuriating that they charged us more but did not study our bodies or test treatments and drugs on women. So they charged us more for subpar care that may or may not have worked for us or just flat out hurt us.

I remember people saying I was going to college to earn my Mrs. Boy were they wrong. I earned my M.A. before I married and with my husbands full support I earned my Ed.D. I was fortunate my husband was very open to my education and career 🩷 He also fully supported both of our daughters as they earned their graduate degrees before they got married 👍💕

I’m 64. I love Gloria Steinem. I subscribed to Ms magazine in the 80s, have read several of her books. I believe it was 2007, I checked my child out of high school and we drove to WKU to hear her speak. Thank you Gloria for your activism! 🥰

just because the law in 1972 said we were allowed to have a credit card in our name did not mean we got them they found many excuses not to give them to us I know in 1988 or maybe 89 I was refused a credit card in my name when I was a soul earner in the family I had plenty of income to cover a credit card but was denied. my husband with no income had credit cards
