@guardian: This is the dramatic moment the Anak Krakatau volcano in Indonesia spewed lava as it erupted. Footage shows the bright orange geyser bursting from the ground during the explosion in the Sunda strait, between the major islands of Java and Sumatra, at about 11.07pm local time. Lightning was seen flickering around the volcanic island as it continued spewing molten material. Indonesia's volcanology agency said the eruption lasted for about 25 hours, sending ash plumes as high as 15,000 metres (49,212 feet). The ash from the volcano forced the closure of schools and seven airports, disrupting the flights of an estimated 170,000 passengers. No casualties or immediate tsunami threat were reported but experts have warned of a high probability of further eruptions. #indonesia #volcano
