The government is not sending new cards to everyone, but the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) did mail new replacement cards with new ID numbers to roughly 1.3 million beneficiaries affected by a recent data security incident.

Medicare beneficiaries have been getting new ID’s for months. I get denials at work all the time because the patient forgot their new card.

70.5 people are enrolled in Medicare and only 1.5 million people are getting new cards. The government wasn't hacked. More likely a claims provider/processor was hacked or they saw several notable claims on the the 1.5 million medicare accounts. Not everything is a conspiracy or the government trying to jam us up. sheesh Just take a second and put some thought into this for a aecond.

Why were only 1.5 hacked? You would think that if med. care was hacked they would have to replace all cards. Double check this with medicare first, and don't use the phone number on the card.
