From this ➡️ to this. One of my first ever 5km runs was 1 year ago and was a 6:43 pace - and I was so proud of myself. Truly. That run was a massive deal for me, and I’ll never forget how accomplished I felt. It wasn’t “slow”… it was a milestone. A starting point. A win. My recent 5km PB? 4:53. But the real growth happened in my mindset. I stopped speaking to myself negatively. I celebrated every run, every tiny improvement. I started running with others - the Well Thanks community - people who motivate me to show up and become better. I listened to my body, rested when I needed to, and pushed when it felt right. I fuelled properly. Most importantly… I never gave up on myself. If you’re starting your running journey, please remember this: pace doesn’t define you. Consistency, kindness to yourself, and community do.
