Playing for money, simple: agree to the rules prior to the start. Here's some gimmi solutions: Start of round each group gets a yard stick or a meter stick and can choose to ignore all putts within that distance, otherwise everyone agrees that if a put is inside the leather like the image above for a selected putter then it's good.

gimme could be used a psychological..i might not give a gimme ..during serious match play ..as it might rattle the opponent

😂 I give plenty of gimmes when it doesn’t really matter, until it does😅 They haven’t had a chance to put out for a n hour plus and there is more pressure. It then gives them something extra to think about in the next holes. 🧠

Defeats the point of a gimme if you're complaining about not being given it. If it's such a gimme just tap it in

If it’s just friendly play, he’s got somewhat of a right to be annoyed. If there’s money involved, no gimme’s.

It’s like when people complain in the Ryder cup. At the end of the day pressure can make even the best miss a two footer or a putt within a club length. Just putt it and prove you can do it then maybe you get it next time

The whole point of the game is to get the ball in the hole. You don’t get gimmies in snooker, football. Everyone should play every shot. Just play the game as it was designed.

Love how many people think a 5 handicap should be 5 over, how dare he have a good day and play closer to level par, a 5 shooting level par is very possible on his best day

I've no problem being asked to take a 2ft putt with break. It's a tricky putt and I might miss 1 in 20 but when somebody asks me to make a straight 18" putt I spend like 60s looking at it from every angle. Then I apologise for taking so long saying I can't see the break but assume there's break. Then I tap it in and move on.
It 100% works for me - makes me smile inside instead of getting annoyed.

I always go with the mindset that I am putting everything and if someone’s wants to give me a gimme then that’s a bonus,
