Watch the full video on our channel here: https://youtu.be/rrUKef4j9Xk In June 2024, trust in canned specialty coffee took a sudden hit — and Snapchill found itself at the center of it. This wasn’t a small startup experimenting in a garage. Snapchill LLC, based in Green Bay, Wisconsin, had built its name around a patented “snapchilling” process. The method brewed coffee hot, then flash-cooled it without ice to preserve flavor before sealing it into ready-to-drink cans. On paper, it sounded like the future of RTD coffee. Even more reassuring, the company partnered with respected specialty roasters to produce and distribute the canned products. Then came the recall. Snapchill issued a voluntary nationwide recall of all its canned coffee products. The concern was potential contamination with Clostridium botulinum. The bacterium that produces botulism toxin is one of the most dangerous foodborne threats. The FDA determined that Snapchill’s manufacturing process for low-acid canned beverages had not been properly filed. That filing isn’t paperwork trivia. It verifies sterilization controls designed to prevent bacterial growth inside sealed cans. The scope was wide — over 250 to 300 canned coffee products were affected, including those sold under partner roaster branding. No illnesses were indeed reported. But if botulism enters the chat, are you really cracking that can open as if nothing happened? Botulism fears shook canned coffee… but the next story hits closer to home, right at the label you trusted most. #snapchill #cannedcoffee #coffeerecall #coffeelovers #foodrecall #foodsafety #botulism #specialtycoffee #readytodrinkcoffee #foodfearfactor
