I'm from NYC. I was 19. My sister was 25. She worked on the 84th floor of the north tower. I watched it live. I remember calling my sister's office in a panic. She didn't answer. But she called us under the towers on a payphone. She said the towers are swaying they look like they're going to fall. I told her to run. 3 mins later the tower fell. My mother had a stroke. My dad called us and I had to listen to him have a car accident. In a matter of 10 mins i thought I had lost my sister, my mother and my dad. Then the ash started falling from the sky like snow. The ambulance cam to get my mom. I stayed home. No phone. No TV. Everything went dead. 19 and alone. Thankfully, everyone survived. My sister was late to work. She's never late but her 5 year old son had a tantrum and begged her not to go to work. He made her late. She survived because of him.

She ran by screaming “turn off all the tvs”. Meanwhile, our 7th grade teachers were all turning them on and freaking out while all of us watched live as people jumped to their deaths and another plane hit. That was so traumatizing.

My mom was friends with a sweet lady she went to highschool with who was a flight attendant on flight 11. Sara Low. May she rest in peace... she is a legend in my hometown.

After 9/11, on the first day the airlines started flying again, my husband called me and said “Book us a flight to Vegas today, because F those MF-ers. We’re not living in fear.” So, a few hours later we were on a flight to Vegas. We had been in the air for about a half hour when the pilot came on and said “If you look to our left, you’ll see we have an escort.” We looked, and there were 2 military jets flying next to us. A voice from the back of the plane said “If we get into trouble, how are they supposed to help us?” Then another voice said “if we get into trouble, they aren’t here to help us, they’re here to shoot us down.” You could have heard a pin drop through the rest of that flight after that reality sunk in.

I have never… not ONCE… I have never thought about the gate agent or anyone who crossed their paths/approved them to be on the flight/security… I should’ve prayed for them long ago. 😔 I pray those who are still with us have peace and have rid themselves of any guilt they may have felt throughout their lives. And I pray for forgiveness and peace for those who have left this world and pray their souls have been lifted high to be eternally comforted
