Mendocino, California, is my favorite coastal little town on Highway 1, with only about 800 residents. The town is completely surrounded by Mendocino Headlands State Park, a spectacular preserve where the powerful, crashing waves of the Pacific Ocean continually sculpt massive sea arches, hidden grottos, and deep blowholes into the sheer stone cliffs.
