Happy Mid-Autumn Festival! 🏮🥮🌕 Unique to Hong Kong, the spectacular Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance is a tradition that began in the 1880s after an elder in the village had a dream where Kwan Yin, the Goddess of Mercy appeared and instructed villagers to perform a fire dragon dance for three consecutive nights throughout the village to successfully ward off the plague. This ritual performance in the form of a dragon has since been held each year to commemorate this victory and is officially recognized as part of Hong Kong's national Intangible Cultural Heritage ✨ Over 300 performers take turns parading the 67-metre long dragon that holds 24,000 burning incense sticks. It's a sight not to be missed, but go early, it gets packed! Performances, including children's Little Fire Dragon, percussion band, and Canto hip hop dancing start at 7:15pm and the Fire Dragons make their rounds twice during the night 🔥🐲 TAI HANG FIRE DRAGON: 5/6/7 October from 8:15pm to 10:30pm. Wun Sha St (from Sun Chun St to Tung Lo Wan Rd). The performance can also be viewed via live cam at Victoria Park on all three nights Pokfulam Village and Aberdeen also have their own Fire Dragon Dances which are held on 6 October from 6:30pm to midnight.
