@tshadelrosario: this was back in 2025 and tbh i wanted to forget about it, but recently i’ve been seeing footage of bodies being found on Jeju Island and it reminded me of an escape i made. i’m currently trying to contact police to see if my footage can help, but it’s also taking quite a lot of energy out of me to relive the experience so I’m hoping this reaches an audience of women and maybe we can exchange experience or tips to help each other so it amounts to something. be safe out there. solo travel is great but not when you’re targeted. remember there are risks and precautions that you must take. as for me what led to this situation was walking out of an Airbnb quite visibly alone. a man with a disheveled cab pulled up and offered a ride. soon enough he also offered me a coffee. i let my guard down and accepted it since he appeared old and like he wouldn’t be able to do anything. i had also an incredible experience just before in Seoul too meeting wonderful locals and i assumed i was safe here too. always call your own cab or transport. never accept drinks from anyone. there is no need to play smart in dangerous situations, if you also make sure not to place yourself in them (but ofc in an ideal world, women should be safe and not need to worry about being preyed on) today i am safe. i was honestly super lucky nothing else happened to me. my night ended with calling friends and asking for advice. as well as eating at a restaurant nearby where a couple apparently paid for my meal while i was eating because they noticed me crying all night. the restaurant walls were decorated in drawings of Jesus and i felt like He had a hand in my saving too. 🙏🏼🥹
