@captainmanicorn: I'm terrified every time Five years ago, I thought BASE jumping was for people braver than me. Now I'm standing on cliffs weekly, stomach in knots, hands shaking. People see the jump and think I must be fearless. That's not what's happening. I'm scared. Every single time. The difference is I've learned fear doesn't have to stop me. Before each jump, there's a moment where everything in me wants to walk away. My brain lists every reason this is a bad idea. Then I ask myself one question: will I regret not trying? That question is bigger than the fear. I didn't overcome my fear. I just decided my goals were more important. Training for Battling Monsters, learning to jump and climb in Patagonia, becoming someone I'm proud of. Those dreams don't wait for me to feel brave. You don't need to be fearless.
