Luther and claiming to hold to the faith of the fathers good joke

Person :

the bible doesn't say anything Abt it being the only authority, Jesus gave teaching authority to his apostles, Peter founded the Catholic church and established Linus as his successor, the line of leadership have been unbroken since meaning the current pope is the successors of st Peter himself, I can give you extra proof on how Peter founded the Roman Catholic church just ask for it

juck :

the canon “problem” is such a weird issue for romanists to press. we don’t reject the deuterocanon, they’re historically disputed books so we don’t see them as canonical in the same sense as the rest of the OT, which is why they’re the deuterocanon, secondary canon. let’s say, though, that the entire deuterocanon was officially canonized tomorrow. not a single thing would change about our doctrine. the only thing i could think of that might be odd is the record in 2 maccabees of the guy offering a sacrifice to God on behalf of soldiers who died with idols on them.
