I wanna be a fulltime stay at home dad. My wife’s income can support us. Is it stupid to leave my job in the current climate?

A lot of people guess what they’re worth instead of finding out. One conversation with recruiters can give you more clarity than months of internal resentment.

what if you don't get the promotion and have been with your company for some time. Does this still apply?

The only person to stay loyal to is yourself. I was once let go in a RIF, but on that exact same day, I got an offer from a company I’d been interviewing with for two months. Always have a backup plan, excel in your current role, and remember that professional loyalty starts with you. It’s not dishonest; it’s just knowing how to play the game😉

Are we all living on the same planet where you have to send out 100 resumes to possibly get one callback? Just me?

Loyalty doesn’t always pay off and when it does it is usually the favourites who benefit from it. 😅

That depends on the job. Quit being vague and more specific on the job. Because small business this is totally different.
