They see disabled people making the best of their situation and they think “they’re trying to make disability trendy 🙄” because apparently it’s illegal for disabled people to have fun online

They have to find a way to pretend Covid isn’t bad. And that’s by mocking disability and making claims it’s fake. That’s way the yet to be too sick to exist aren’t concerned they’ll end up the same and if they do they’ll gaslight themselves

Im not a content creator but I have been disabled for 13 years since the age of 28. BUT If I WERE to start posting content and a day in my life as someone with disabilities id be a sickfluencer? Why can't I just be a content creator? My content is gonna look different because I am disabled not that I am trying to push onto people that being disabled is "cool". idfgi

I’ve been having pots symptoms since I was 12 and just got diagnosed at 23. Even if it’s trendy I’m grateful bc the awareness led to me pressing further to ask why I had these symptoms instead of being told my irons fine and to just stand up slower.

It's because they don't want to think about the fact that disabled people exist and they don't want to see us.

a dr asked me if i was searching for a diagnosis bc " its really popular to have something right now" so anyways I have ehlers danlos syndrome and the reason I was searching for a diagnosis is bc my joins dislocate every 5 seconds. once i showed her my head can nearly do a full 180 she took me a little more seriously but like seriously the judgment is wild

fellow potsie here- i’ve seen this going around and ugh it’s just disgusting, i’m so sick of “journalists” trying to bait people by writing these offensive pieces when they did very little actual research about how chronic illness has impacted society post-covid ☠️thank you for speaking on this! 💓

I was sick and trying to get diagnosed in the 90s. It took 17 years of being completely and permanently disabled according to the Social Security Administration to get my EDS diagnosis, which is why I and others like me worked our asses off to spread awareness so it didn't take decades for others to get the care they needed. And we still have a long way to go, quite frankly. If young women are getting diagnosed easier, that is FUCKING FANTASTIC because I nearly died several times from undiagnosed, untreated combordities of EDS.

idk why people think anyone finds being sick trendy, i keep seeing ppl say so many are faking it and like.. how would you know someone is faking? who wants to fake this? being chronically ill has made me lose so much of my life. people don’t care and aren’t usually empathetic about it, you don’t get help or support, like this isn’t fun. i’m poor and always in survival mode i just don’t get it

What they’re probably trying to do is call out people the way that one subreddit does i forget what its called but its been around for ages they basically talk ish anout youtubers who have these diagnoses saying they’re faking. It’s probably just more prevelant now with tiktok im guessing than just youtube
