It’s eerie how your creations are imbued with so much humanity; they are such singular windows into your inner life as an artist. And I love the way you revealed as an aside that you’ve read “Finnegan’s Wake.” When I went to college there was a cadre of professors—all Joyce and modernist lit experts—who held once-a-week, secretive meetings to decipher a single sentence of the book. They may still be meeting for all I know.
