When my son was in second grade, he fell asleep on the bus from school to the after school facility. The after school facility did a bus check as kids were getting off and realized my son had gotten on the bus, but not off, so they checked the bus and found him passed out. They then called me to tell me what happened. I’ll never understand why all facilities that do school pickups do not follow this same protocol

I used to ride the same bus my grandpa drove and he would ask me to help him make sure there wasn’t anyone asleep or things left behind. He used to have me walk around first and he would follow, also helped him to pick up trash in the bus 🚌 I miss him so much! Love you, grandpa 🙏🏽✝️🕊️

Do the buses not have a child safety that requires you to walk to back of the bus and deactivate it all well checking the bus for sleeping children.

Ain’t no way! I don’t know when they changed the rule I always tried to sleep on the bus and the driver stopped at everyone’s house regardless if u attended for the day! An they would walk the bus and find u or make sure you didn’t get on

Same thing happened to my daughter years ago, she fell asleep on bus and driver didn’t notice her still in the bus….that’s a scary experience for both child and parent. 🥺

Texas law requires an alarm at the back of the bus that the driver must go back and turn off upon arriving at their destination. This is designed so that no child is not seen. This sounds like the bus was not equipped with the required safety features. Another requirement is to count heads when loading and unloading to also account for all children. This apparently was not done either or this would not have happened

Inexcusable, this happened to my son while he was in preschool. I have never been so terrified in my life as I waited for my 3 year old at the bus stop and he never got off. He had fallen asleep on the bus and it took several hours to locate him. , when the bus driver finally checked the bus .

The bus driver should be charged with attempted murder. Being stupid and neglectful with other peoples kids should immediately have you doing life sentences. If your a bus driver checking the seats before you leave is common sense and if need to be told to do that then this job isn’t right for you.
