Also I hate this “fearlessness” bullshit bc that’s not how the ring works, Hal has fear but he has more willpower to push through the fear, if your fearless then the ring wouldn’t work nearly as well since you have nothing to overcome, and if you have nothing to overcome then you don’t need willpower

100 percent the Guardians manipulated John and his parents in thinking Hal is not competent and deserving of the ring. So they can voluntarily make them their perfect Green Lantern that they can control.

People don't understand storytelling. We're mostly living in John's headspace and POV. We're seeing how he perceives Hal. With his own baggage. And Hal *is* gruff and can be an asshole, whether on purpose or not. And he is not explaining himself. We are discovering Hal at the same time as John. It's not an uncommon storytelling technique... I don't get why people get to the conclusion that the show is *disrespecting* anyone...

That also proved why Hal is the worst person to be teacher for flight. For him flight has always been natural even before the ring. John is thinking of the exact coordinates while Hal is a damn pilot he just needs a direction to fly.

So we’re people just taking the guardians and John and his parents biased opinion of Hal as fact? It totally seemed to me from the first couple episodes the guardians wanted Hal gone because they couldn’t control him and were uneasy about his relationship with sinestro. Where as John, at the start, would’ve been better at just following his orders to the letter unlike how Hal goes with his gut
