Having a job or even having once been a high earner, doesn’t guarantee you can afford groceries today. After losing my career, savings, moving in family, and struggling with my mental health, I began using a food pantry. I felt ashamed arriving in a car that was now wildly beyond my budget. It wasn’t obvious to anyone but me that it was on the verge of repossession. People see what remains from when your life was stable; they don’t see how much your circumstances or your pride can change
